Acting as props in advance of the performance With Everything We’ve Got!
[warm-up], 32 hand-made reversible bibs ranging in sizes XXS-XXXL were
stuffed into a training bag and installed in the gallery space. These garments
were activated during the performance, as audience members—or
spectators—were asked to wear a training bib of their choice whilst
witnessing the performance, and ultimately, resulting in a coalition of team
members rooting for one another.
Taking stylistic reference from sporting arenas, a variation of large blue lines and curves wrapped around the gallery’s architectural corners acting not only as directional prompts but also as safety hazards, some of which intersected between artworks whilst others wove pieces together. These lines were based off the mechanical sewing patterns which Herlihy used whilst creating the 32 reversible training bibs.
With Everything We’ve Got! [XXS-XXXL] (2023) is part of Herlihy’s larger transdisciplinary project With Everything We’ve Got! (2022 - ?) and was commissioned by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios as part of the group exhibition Reflex Blue (2023). This iteration was kindly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
